I was in Tbilisi for one week due to work and was housed in the MGK hotle (room 9). Regrettably I was not that happy. Positive first: — The staff was always nice and friendly — Room 9 gives you a nice view on the TV Tower and the Ferris wheel — The air con was very good — The room was always clean — Many restaurants are close by. Only 2 blocks away is the Irakli Abashidze Street where you will find a lot of good restaurants. I can e. G. Strongly recommend Sushi Room and Bernard (for georgian dinner). But further you will find close to the MGK hotel Domino Pizza, Subway, KFC, Hard Rock Cafe and many more. — Also the old town can be reached afoot. Roughly 30 minutes to walk. — Important for me, my working place was in the Pixel Building, which was only 5 minutes afoot away. But the negative: — Every evening when I came back, it smelled like drain. So I first needed to aerate my room. I was not able to locate the source but it must be a problem with the sewerage. — The hotel is in the 6th floor. The staircase and the elevator was very shabby (see pictures). But to be fair, the hotel itself is very modern and tidy. — The breakfast buffet is overseeable. You will find only one kind of jam. No alternative sweet spreads like Nutella or at least honey. No cereals. And coffee only instant. — In room 9 the tinsmith has mixed up the hot and cold water in the shower. The first 2 mornings I was on the assumption, that my shower does not have any hot water. I took a shower, the water was cold, so I put the leverage on the left side for only hot water and became only cold water. I made an announcement at the desk and the lady told me, that she is going to forward this. The next morning I did have the same problem. That lady then (another one than the morning before) did know that issue in my room and showed me, that I get hot water, when I put the leverage to the other side (for cold water). I know, it is not that easy to fix that problen (e. G. They would need to destroy the tiles) but other hotels and actually other rooms in the MGK does not have that issue. And in my judgement the tinsmith is responsible to fix it, because he made that mistake. — You will habe the whole night noise from the street. You are in the 6th floor, but below the window of room 9 is a 6 lane street, with traffic 24/7. And the window is not soundproof. — The staff is nice and friendly but did not understand English very well. They were not able to answer some simple questions. Good example happened on my last evening. The hotel staff who was there that morning asked me, when the driver should be there who should bring me back to the airport. I told her 1:15 am. I went to work and a lady of my company asked me as well, for which time they should arrange the driver. I told my colleague, that the hotel is arranging a driver already, but my colleague told me, that my employer does have a contract with a driving company. So OK, I asked the lady from my company to arrange the driver for 1:15 am. When I was back in the hotel that evening I tried to tell the hotel staff that I don't need the driver from the hotel, because my employer ordered a different driver. What should I say, the hotel staff did not understand what I mean. She was on the assumption, that I don't want to be driven to the airport : — (. So I stand at the street at 1:05 am, and for my luck, the driver my employer ordered, was the first one who was there. I do not know, what would have happened, when both drivers arrived at the same time ;-)
